Development of an installation robot
“GOLDBECK’s systematised design offers numerous potential applications for the use of robotics in manufacturing and on the construction site. Together with Stanford University, the Stanford Robotics Institute and the CIFE Institute, the colleagues of GOLDBECK US Inc. are currently researching in the field of robotics for construction sites. currently in the field of robotics for construction sites.
Together with Stanford University, GOLDBECK is researching applications for the use of robots on construction sites in the Sillicon Valley. The US team is working hand in hand with CIFE and the Robotics Institute. First, GOLDBECK identified processes and components that are suitable for robotics support. Then tasks were defined that are frequently repeated on the construction sites and have a low variance. Stanford, for its part, provides the robotics lab and experts who develop robots and test them using GOLDBECK components. Three use cases were initially identified for the tests: the bolting of steel components in multi-storey car parks, for example at the connection point between the support and the beam, the casting, shot-blasting and coating of joints, and welding work in the foundation area. In the first step, the implementation is simulated using software. This is followed by the practical tests. For this purpose, apprentices from the training workshops in Bielefeld and Treuen have made suitable models and sent them to the robotics laboratory at Stanford. For the future, GOLDBECK and Stanford are planning to make the leap from the test environment at the university to everyday practice on GOLDBECK construction sites.”
