Long-term damage cannot be excluded
Many building materials have recently become more expensive and some of them are not easy to obtain. Against this background, the Association of Private Building Owners observes that, due to a lack of alternatives, sometimes the wrong, non-approved products are used on construction sites – more likely due to the ignorance of those involved.
What happens unintentionally, however, can have annoying consequences for builders, warns the association. There is a risk of damage to the building if products do not have the necessary properties required of them.
According to their own information, the VPB experts come across such mistakes again and again during visits to construction sites, especially when it comes to the sealing of houses. Many craftsmen do not check what they install and many materials are similar, the association says. Only on the packaging and the technical data sheet is the area of application explained.
