Gundlach learns from construction of lighthouse project

The Hanoverian construction and real estate company Gundlach has realised a “recycling house” in Hanover-Bemerode on the Kronsberg. The innovative lighthouse project based on plans by the architectural firm Cityförster Hannover received several awards.

Harvesting components during demolition instead of disposing of them as construction waste is still an unusual approach. For the colleagues on the construction sites, proper removal is particularly demanding. At the same time, construction companies have direct access to the “storage sites”. The grey energy in the building component is thus preserved.

Historic brickwork of a dilapidated barn was thus transformed into high-quality exposed brickwork in the interior. Used windows were professionally removed and installed. Old glass panels of an industrial building became a façade with a surprising play of colours. This requires experts who dare to assess the serviceability with a view to the warranty.
