BAU trade fair 2023 in Munich: Face-to-face meetings and insights into the latest trends

The BAU trade fair in Munich is considered the world’s largest trade fair for architecture, materials and systems. The wide range of innovative building materials, construction machinery and the exchange with numerous experts in the industry made the visit to BAU for Lars Gadow and me in any case worthwhile.

Particularly impressive: the strong focus on the topics of sustainability and circular construction. There was hardly a company that did not address these issues. The industry is increasingly moving in a more sustainable direction. And that’s good!
However: In our conversations, people repeatedly said that they were dissatisfied with politics and that there are currently not enough targeted measures to promote innovation and the switch to a green industry.

The degree of innovation in general at BAU was rather low compared to the Futurebuild in London or JEC in Paris. However, there were numerous exciting lectures and presentations on new projects. However, the best thing was to meet the people you usually only know from video conferences or haven’t seen for a long time (Stefan Zwerenz, Helle Reinold, Sabine Flamme 😊)
And despite the rail strike, we are now on the train back to beautiful Münsterland as planned.

Conclusion: Overall, the visit to the BAU trade fair in Munich was a great experience. We saw interesting products and exchanged ideas with many dedicated people from the industry. We look forward to working on more innovations and exciting building products in the future and bringing them to market with our partners.
